A bit more about us
The Board Black Girl started as a labor of love in 2014.
I have always enjoyed entertaining in my home for friends and family. I began making charcuterie and cheese boards for small get-togethers and couple’s nights in. My husband Adrian, who is my biggest supporter and business partner, along with several of our friends began strongly encouraging me to consider starting a business. After brewing on the idea for a year and filling several orders for grazing tables and party displays for friends’ events, I decided to take the leap. In 2020, The Board Black Girl was born.
Our company is founded on the principle that with hard work, dedication, and community support anyone can do anything. As a Black woman, I feel it is important to acknowledge the way paved through adversity by those who came before me. With that in mind our boards are named in honor of powerful and influential women like Michelle Obama, Ruby Bridges, the first African American child to desegregate public schools; and famous poet Maya Angelou whose words have instilled confidence in women for generations; and my mother Vannessa who’s fighting spirit and attitude molded me. It is just as important to highlight the work my contemporaries are doing to make the world better for the next generation. “The Squad Box” is named in honor of Ayana Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib – the group of outspoken congresswomen and true trailblazers, elected to their first terms in 2018.
We hope that not only will you enjoy our carefully crafted charcuterie boxes but find inspiration in the enjoyment!
Sincerely,
Ebony L. Marable
